I travel quite a ways to go to this nursery and refuse to use any other (since they closed the one in Benecia). I cannot believe that anyone would have any thing other than a great experience with them. I, too, am a "person of color".

However, this year I went there to look for a specific daisy that I had previously purchased at UC Davis and happened to find it very alive amidst many half dead plants. I went to purchase it at the counter and the owner, Ms. Personality (her wilted plants have more expression than her) took my money and never said "thank you" so I said a nice thank you" to her and she replied with "alright" (what's that about?) This is not my first encounter with this woman; when shopping at her store in prior years she always seemed to be very dry when I would speak to her. As a "person of color", I've never really felt a person exhibiting racism towards me, but I really think this could be my first experience. My husband told me that if I felt that uncomfortable I should never patronize her. However, that particular time it was more convenient for me to purchase there than to go to UC Davis for 1 plant.
