I go here when I have been unable to locate a specific plant I want at another nursery, as they tend to carry a bigger selection. I have gotten a few things from them and everything has survived, even though I planted in the fall. I think they are a bit on the expensive side, although the staff is very helpful and they provide good information on the plants you buy. I like to try and buy in the fall when things are discounted.

Most of their perennials are field grown on their grounds so there's no doubt that you'll get plants that thrive in zone 5. They have a wonderful selection of daylilies and many varieties of perennials, including some that are hard to find at ordinary nurseries. Customer service is excellent. There is also a lovely display garden you can stroll through.

I was met at the entrance with an umbrella, provided by the shop (it was a rainy day) and an explanation of how the display garden worked and where plants were located in the nursery. "The help" was helpful, but not overzealous. I shopped on my own, without interference for almost 2 hours. When I finally asked questions, they were answered with authority and if there was any doubt, a more knowledgable person was asked for help. I was able to consult photo albums of plants to see what they looked like in flower on site. And I was able to take home specific information on my plants that printed out with the receipt. This business "has it covered" for all levels of gardeners. I highly recommend it!

They also sell trees and shrubs. And a huge selection of great roses. And its always good to know that all the roses they sell are hardy to the area. Many own-roots.
