I went up to the male cashier to ask direction from the clerk and he treated me real defensively like a stranger approaching him on the street. I had a question about plant disease and the clerk who helped me with this issue was quite knowledgeable and helpful. I didn't really need anything but I thought I would buy something since I got free advice. The first clerk cashed me out and he again made inappropriate glances at my person and overall had body language that was off-putting and I felt like he was judging me to be queer, and I'm not, and what would it matter if a customer was? He's there for customer service not to pick friends. And it wasn't just me, the first cashier's attitude drew attention from the other cashier as well. Even before I could I gathered my things from the cashier station he was getting the attention of another customer which I took as "you can leave now, we have other customers" There are lots of garden center options in GR and I will go out of my way to give patronage to another business after this uncomfortable interaction.

I worked at Fruit Basket when I was a teenager (lots of years ago) and this was the first place I began to learn about plants, trees and gardening. They hired some outstanding people. I still go back to ask questions but I make sure to find the managers and full-time staff.
