Brookside Gardens has been one of my favorite spots to wander around, relax, and get inspired since I was a kid. I live only a few minutes away, so it's easy for me to get there, but I'd encourage anyone who's in town to take some time and see these gardens. Last weekend I visited with my husband and both our moms. There were amazing hosta along the woodland path, the rose garden was in bloom, and they have a beatiful fragrance garden. We didn't spend the $5 to get into the indoor butterfly garden, but I think it would be worth it for people who bring kids along.

Any time of year is a good time to visit Brookside gardens and I highly recommend it to both people living in the area and to visitors!

Brookside Gardens is home to the founding chapter of the Azalea Society of America.

The Christmas light display at Brookside is absolutely amazing, with copyrighted displays depicting all kinds of plants and animals, including a fire- breathing dragon, squirrels moving through the trees, birds, palm trees, tulips, etc. Expect crowds!
