Cedar River Garden Center

Overall a good nursery. Staff is pretty friendly, and they have a pretty decent variety. Price-wise, they are inline with other nurseries in the Cedar Rapids area. Our family's top choice for a nursery in the Cedar Rapids area. They have a price discount if you go without the standard plant warranty.

Like other nurseries in the area, they tend to rely heavily on Monrovia for their plant source. And a lot of the plants offered by Monrovia tend to be eye catching hybrids that do not do as well in Iowa as expected. This is not a specific gripe against this nursery, but in general,something all the major nurseries in the Cedar Rapids area (Peck's, Culvers) are guilty of.

Cedar River Garden Center is a great garden center in Palo Iowa. It was devistated by the flood of 2008 but is back in operation better than ever! I have always gotten great customer service there and even better plants. Their selection of annuals, perennials and trees is outstanding!

Last fall we consulted Cedar River Garden Center about landscaping our new home. Jim Pillard came to our home, took photos, talked to us about what ideas we had, shared his ideas, put the information together and emailed us pictures created with his photos and software to place the plants into the photos of our home.

Over the winter we emailed back and forth with new ideas we had when we saw landscaped areas. In the early spring we finalized our goals, met with Jim and the Garden Center to look at different trees and shrubs and plants, and made our final selection.

We did the work, but Jim was most helpful in giving us suggestions in completing the work.

We could not be happier with our experience with Cedar River Garden Center. We have met Megan and Dan, the owners, and they have also been very helpful.

We have highly recommended the Cedar River Garden Center to others with confidence.

I have purchased from this garden center each spring/summer. They have a huge selection of annuals & perennials, as well as a moderate selection of trees & shrubs. They also have a nice gift shop with home decor, bird houses, bird feeders & feed, garden art, etc. Give them a try!
