City Escape is only, I think, in its second season in the Chicago gardening market, and I suspect they'll be a lot better this year than last. Already this spring I've been there twice and have seen improvements. Their supplies and tools, etc., section -- skimpy last year -- was much better stocked. Their plant selections during their first season was already pretty impressive for a city-center nursery. On a good day (and some were a lot better than others), you could find lots of unusual and/or fashion forward plants that you would not find in any other city garden centers, except Gethsemane, which is still hands-down the best of this lot, in my experience. Still, a fun place to spend a little time (and money) in. Tropical plants, annuals look very good. Garden decor really nice, but also really pricey. I haven't found the staff particularly helpful, however, or available. It's a pretty sprawling place. On the way from the city to Garfield Park Conservatory.

Nicely edited collection of plants and home decor items. Staff is very helpful and knowledgeable. Able to find some gems here that I haven't seen elsewhere. A selection of native forbs & grasses is also available. Fair prices.
