Seawrights is a great place to buy field dug daylilies. If you go when the daylilies are blooming you can walk the fields and pick out the exact plants and the staff will dig them for you. Large healthy divisions are freshly dug and expertly packaged. In addition to the daylilies they have an interesting hosta display garden and sell many hosta varieties. Many of the hosta pot sizes they sell are larger more established plants for immediate effect (3, 4, 5 gallon pot sizes). It is great to see how a particular hosta will look in the landscape before you plant it in your own garden. Worth a visit to see the hosta garden at any time.

I have the good fortune of living within 15 minute drive of this amazing garden. The daylily garden is a bit off the beaten path and makes for a nice day trip if you are not from the immediate area. (Carlisle, MA is the home of a few very tasty ice cream establishments, one of which is a conservation area for hiking and horseback riding.)
I have bought many specimans of daylilies from the Seawights. Go after July 4th. The fun is walking up and down the rows...gazing among the myriads of blooms in a vast field. You can either walk around and select what strikes your fancy or browse thorough their picture books. The staff are most informed and happily dig your lilies from the field, wrap in newspaper..and you are on your way. Don't miss their to-die-for hosta gardnens back in the shady spot behind the field.
