September 2008: Osuna got more organized this gardening season BUT---

1. They have almost no vegetable selections and none are grown locally.

2. They are higher priced than all the other nurseries in the area.

3. I bought two trees there that a. were pot-bound and b. not replaced gratis by the nursery when they died after four months in the ground. This is at odds with their valley competitors, who will replace defective tree stock, which these were.

4. A lot of the help still don't know anything about what they are selling.

5. A huge amount of the inside space is devoted to high-end ornamental garden ware. I suppose there's a need for these copper bowls, gazing balls, and faux marble bird baths since Rowland's went out of business but Rowland's devoted proportionally MUCH more space to gardening specific products like gloves, tools, hats, hoses, bulbs in season, and spring specialties like asparagus crowns, onion, and potato sets and rhubarb roots. None of the latter can be bought at Osuna.

On the plus side: Osuna carries most of the "organic" products I look for---natural fertilizers like kelp and fish emulsion, insecticidal soap and other acceptable pest control products, lady bugs and mantis egg cases, etc.

Osuna is stepping up. I was there today and they have added many more staffers. They know where to find everything too!
Not enough veggies there yet, but the selection of native plants is getting better every time I shop there.

Indoor plants greenhouse - good plants, but be sure to look them over really well for unwanted critters you may not want to take home.

This is a good nursery. It has a chance to become the best nursery in Albuquerque to replace Rowlands which sadly closed about a year ago. Unfortunately Osuna didn't have enough stock or employees to begin to service the demand. Since the gap is still there, I hope Osuna will rise to fill the needs of local gardeners. The opportunity is there.
