Silverado Building Materials & Nursery

Silverado is my all-around favorite Sacramento area place to shop for anything garden related. If something needs to be done outside the walls of my home, chances are that Silverado is the place I'll turn.

Although the name "Silverado Building Materials" implies a more construction-related business, Silverado does have an extensive, well-stocked nursery onsite. Nursery staff is knowledgeable and friendly. The plants are well cared for, intuitively arranged, and easy to browse. Things like prices and growing directions are consistently attached as well.

The nursery also has several built in flower beds and display areas in case you need some ideas or just want to spend some time strolling through a nice setting.

Across the narrow road, Silverado also has a huge selection of building materials . . . bricks of all colors, stones of all shapes and sizes, pavers, you name it. They also have a nice selection of fountains, pond equipment, statues, and a smaller selection of patio furniture.

Fans of the TV show "Gardening by the Yard" might recognize Silverado too since frequent guest, Michael Glassman, has shot some video for the show at Silverado (the episode where Glassman demonstrated how to make a bench using stacked stones, for example).
