I have visited Oma's several times. There have been times that I will go just to sit under the nice shaded area and enjoy the beautiful flowers and many butterflies and hummingbirds that flutter around. There are always welcoming faces, and if I need assistance then there is more than enough - and always very friendly, but never pushy. Shopping at Oma's is more like visiting a friend - taking a breather out of your day and enjoying the many beautiful things that are taken for granted at other retail nurseries and Wal-Mart. The plants are well cared for, and displayed in such a manner that you feel like you are in the midst of a garden, not at a store. Prices are very reasonable. I pay less for plants that are much better quality than at Lowe's or Wal-Mart. The organic aspect of the nursery comforts me. I don't know where the plants come from before they get to Oma's - but once at Oma's they are never touched with chemicals. Oma's is also designated as a wildlife habitat and there are pets that wander the nursery and are always glad to get attention!

As for the two previous comments they are obviously very bitter people or work just up the street at that other place where their plants look like they come from Wal Mart or Lowes and they resale them at their store.
If you haven’t been to Oma’s lately then you haven’t seen the vast improvements they have done there from rain water recycling to the improvements to the nursery such as granite gravel so that the customers don’t walk away with muddy shoes.
She has many Texas Native plants that you cannot find anywhere else and they are well priced. Not the sick, under watered and over fertilized like you find most other places. There are always workers there to help and I cannot remember a time that I wasn’t asked if I needed any help finding anything.
I have never been asked to buy any books but the workers there will look information up in them for you if it is a question that they cannot answer themselves which isn’t often.

This Nursery is a complete joke. I have never been to a garden center with such lazy, uneducated, and rude employees in my life! The older lady with the big pink hat who I asume is the owner treats her employees like dirt and knows nothing about plants other than what some book told her and she constantly tried to shove down my throat! The plant material is weak and sick looking, most needs to be pitched, and almost all of it is overpriced. From what I can tell from the plant material it is all, except for perhaps the herbs and garden veggies, grown with synthetic chemicals, pesticides, and fertilizers. This is not an 'organic' garden center, it is a regular garden center that offers organic products. Also don't buy the organic compost tea. It is not properly prepared. !!!Do yourself a huge favor keep driving south on old FM 440 to Stan Schluter. Turn right go a little ways and hit 'The Guys With the Green Thumbs" They have WAY better plant material and customer service!!! Or even go to Walmart!

I have been there twice, both time no one waited on me. I had to look around by myself for the trees I wanted, and both time I had to go to the desk and ask for information. They had two employees there and two customer, I was one of the two customer. There answer to me was to sell me a book on trees and plants native to Texas. Now I know they are probably the best gardners in the world, but I don't think everyone is that goes to purchase there if so they are very lucky. I have called once for assistance and they act like they are too busy to give you any information. So I don't think I will ever go much less buy anything from there.
