Hey all. I bought a pkg of camassia bulbs a few years ago, and they are just now blooming. However, they are spindly and weak. The flowers are sparse and flopping over. Anyone grow camassia who may have an idea what's up? I thought maybe the soil was too rich, but it's taken them 3 years to even bloom, and the soil is most likely clay. Plus what I've read says they like fertile soil anyway... They are also in full sun.

I'm not an expert, and never grown camassia, but sounds like too much water. Clay soil holds water and may need breaking up with compost, grit or something to allow more drainage.
I have clay here some of it hardly qualifies as soil, you could make dishes out of what I dig out of my garden! It's rich, but plants tend to drown in it. I took on an established garden and did not want to strip it all out and replant so I try and make do with digging in dead plant fibre and compost where I can.
