There is a ton of shade on my property and (as a result) I can not grow grass. We really prefer the shade because it protects us from the Georgia heat in the summer, therefore I am not going to cut down any trees to allow the proper amount of light to come through to grow grass. My question is this: Is there a grass alternative that looks green and grows in shade? There is a web site (called Stepables.com) that specializes in creeping low plants you can walk on. Might there be something there? Or does anyone know of a good grass alternative that grows in shade?
Stepables is a great site to look at too--I don't know if you need your groundcover to stand up to foot traffic or not, but they have a search engine where you can put in your zone, sun/shade, and how much foot traffic it needs to handle and it'll give you suggestions.
