Hi,
I live in canadian plant hardiness zone 5b. My front lawn is about 80 long x 60 wide feet. It is now bare of trees and there is only grass between my house and the road. My spectic field is under my front lawn but I think I should be safe to plant a row of trees about 10-feet back from the road? I know I shouldn't use willow, aspen, poplar, maple etc... because of their invasive roots. I was thinking of White, red or Austrian Pine since they are very wind firm and also evergreen. How are the roots of these trees in regards my spectic field? Is there any advantage of one over the other in regards to my spectic system? Is there any other tree you'd recommend? Birch? Larch? Linden? white spruce? Norway spruce? Crab apple, pear etc.. Their main purpose would be for screening. They would be in full sun and very exposed to wind and ice damage. My main concern is finding something that will not mess up my septic field.
