What would you suggest I plant along a north side of a 6 foot privacy fence that is very wet in the spring?

Some ferns grow well in damp areas. Look up ferns in Plant Files and you should find some.

Not sure if these will grow in your area, but I've had success with Japanese iris, and sweet flag. Both are flowering perennials. Cinnamon fern is a large fern for wet areas. I've been told that the shrubs Spicebush (Lindera bensoin) and Sweet Shrub (Calycanthus florida) are also good for soggy areas. But check each of these for hardiness in your area. I'm a master gardener in North GA, and am not familiar with just how hardy these suggestions will be in your area. Good luck!

Daylilies work great in Wisconsin especially in wet areas. If you go to your local University extension they should be able to tell you al lthe plants that are from your area that grow the best in wetter areas.

Shrubs for wet sites in MI would include:

Ilex verticillata, any of many clones
Clethra alnifolia, any of many clones
Itea virginica
Aronia melanocarpa, any of many clones

And this is just a simple starter list...
