As you may have seen, I have a terrible slope, and I've determined that there's no way I can landscape it and make it semi-usable without doing some sort of terracing. I'll keep it minimal, and was thinking about using railroad ties.
I understand the general process of installing (I've done some small rock retaining walls), but my question is this . . . .
Do I still have to line with landscape fabric and backfill with sand/rock?
I have seen where you can install a drainage pipe into the side of the terrace so that the terraced area will drain and not pool water. Or, you could just build it and plant it well, and see how it holds. I guess it depends on the location and amount of slope involved.
