Hi,

We had 3 fruit trees along my fence that were diseased and ugly, so my husband took them out, including stumps and all. Now we have a bare fence. I purchased 3 Pineapple Guava bushes to go along the fence to try to cover the fence. Now my question is my husband thought he was being a good guy and he cultivated all of the soil along the fence the only thing he is did wrong is cultivate all of the weeds into the soil. I spent 5 months digging by hand, with a shovel to take out the weeds in the backyard, so I could get them out by the roots, I have bermuda grass. Now I started to rake the area that he cultivated and I'm finding a ton of weeds. He said he thought they would be good fill since the soil level is low. Do you think I need to go along the fence that he cultivated with a shovel to pick out all of the weeds or do you think I am ok to add my compost and plant my bushes? I am afraid all of my hard work will result in a weed bed. What do you think I should do?

Sorry to say but I would get those weeds out now. It would be much easier now that the ground is tilled. Good luck
