duck_toller Middleton, WI (Zone 4b) July 4, 2008 4:45 PM	Grandpa gave me lots of plants before he sold his home and moved into the nursing home. This is one of many I've had trouble identifying. He's 99 years old and doesn't remember most of the names either, just the story that went with them. This one he traded bluebells from our woods to a neighbor who had many of these planted all around her foundation. Anyone know what it is, and how do I dead-head with the blossoms under the leaves? Sneirish Swansea, MA (Zone 6b) July 4, 2008 10:51 PM	I bought a new plant of this "Alexander" Loosestrife/Lyshimachia this spring. It had several stalks in the pot, so I split it and planted it in two separate places in the yard. It has done just beautifully - has grown quite a bit since I planted it only about a month ago, and seems to just keep on blooming. I have noticed that it will drop the spent flowers itself, so probably no need to deadhead. I don't know if it will self-seed or not. BUT, I also have Loostrife (non-variegated leaves) that I planted last year, and it has spread quite a bit and has probably at least tripled in size I planted it last year. So you might want to decide how much of the plant you want around. It is beatuful, so enjoy! View Larger

I just thought it looked like some sort of yellow azalea, so I googled "yellow, variegated azalea" and searched through the images. Saw that one, and come to find out it wasn't even an azalea at all! I found the picture IN SPITE of the fact I had no idea what it was, lol. But, glad I could find it! Good luck with the plant, duck toller...it is very beautiful! Kristie
