Obviously without a photo of the stem an ID will be impossible.

At least, it's a cactus, true.

There are many Cactus flowers that look like that. When the bloom goes away, get some photos of the body of the cactus. It will be easier to identify it then.

G'Day All. You are right there can't be a positive ID without seeing the whole plant.
But I often jump in where Angels fear to tread. The flower looks like a Coryphantha perhaps either C. echinus or C. elephantides.

Hey, guys and gals.

I'm too slow to figure out how to upload two photos in the same post, so if you scroll around, you will see the cactus in its entirety just one or two posts apart and not just this yellow bloom photo. I tried to post them one right after the other. Someone thought it might be an Astrophytum...

I didn't see the posting down further nor did I notice the solved. Perhaps that went up while I was typing.
What is it please?

The way to keep your photos together is to reply to your original post--each time you reply you can upload another picture. You can only put them in one at a time, but as long as they're all posted as replies within the same thread it keeps them together so everyone can see all of them.

Thanks for that advice, and I did just check, and my posts on this particular cactus in the I.D. forum are not that far apart (and there's only one timmijo, lol).

Still seeking positive I.D. It looked like the Astrophytums were all silver-colored, for the most part. Mine is green as green can be.
