This was taken Tuesday 11/10/09. It was growing on the edge of a former rice dyke here in coastal South Carolina. They were numerous leaning stems, averaging about 5ft tall.

Maybe an Agastache.

Definitely a mint, Mentha (e.g. arvensis, aquatica?) - not an agastache.

Agastache is in the mint family, though, right?

Yes, but Mentha and Agastache

EDIT: Ooops, sorry, my post did not go through. I meant to say, "Yes, but Mentha and Agastache are different genera in the same family, Lamiaceae, which includes the "mints".

Menta aquatica seems right to me except for the size. There were large clusters of these, and the photo was taken at chest level (i'm 6'2"). The stems were leaning over alot, so some of them must have been much taller. Thanks for your help.

The usda site did not show it in SC. Perhaps i will press a specimen...Thanks everyone...
