Growing on a vine next to the squash, looks like a cucumber vine. About 1" X 1", orange, full of seeds. Taste and smells like watermelon to me, citrus to others. Didn't kill me when I tasted it so I guess it is not poisonous. I first thought it was a kumquat, but they do not grow on vines. If I am in the wrong forum, please excuse me; and help me to the right one if you can.
Thank you,
Vicki in Yulee Florida

Can you show the plant? Any flowers?

It looks like it could be an overripe lemon cucumber. http://davesgarden.com/guides/pf/showimage/164949/

Can you get a close-up photo of the seeds inside?

It has a tight skin just like a citrus, a thin skinned lemon or lime. You can squeeze it and feel the juice inside. Just like a kumquat. Smells like a melon, but does not have the tight skin of a melon. I posted this pix, I have arthrits and my camera does not have auto focus, so it is a little blurry. Sorry. I think because of the citrus skin it is not a melon or lemon cucumber.
thank you,
vicki
