Just received this cutting from a friend, I had it in water, but I think it will root better in moist soil if it is a Rhipsalis...I see little root hairs at some branch junctions. Friend told me it gets small flower once a year...some sort of Brazilian plant ??
Thanks for any help,
Clint

I would try laying the plant on top of the soil as it will put out roots pretty much any place it comes in contact with the soil.
