My local extension agent thinks this is a golden rain tree but in pictures I've been able to find on the web the bloom of this one is not as closed and more peach colored. I'll post a close up and a far away shot next.

here is the whole tree.

P.S. Dave, is there anyway we could attach more than one photo to a post? I notice lots of people need to post more than one for ID questions.

i believe that it is a chinese flame tree Koelreuteria bipinnata, in the same family as the golden rain tree however, the golden rain is Koelreuteria paniculata.

Yep, Koelreuteria bipinnata.

The pink things are actually seed capsules, not flowers - the flowers are yellow, produced in the summer.

if you posted more than one photo to each post, they would probably be too small to see details. posting them one at a time is time-consuming, but you get bigger, better pictures.

resin, the flowers come right before the seed capsules here. they flower for a couple of weeks and then the capsules form quickly afterwards. florida is full of these beautiful, some say weedy, trees. they were at their peak about a week ago.

I guess you're right about the picture size.

Everyone mentioned seeds, does anyone have experience growing one from seed? The look huge full grown, I wonder how long it takes them to get that big?

they are a pretty fast grower but to attain full size i would think at least 25 yrs. judging from the growth on mine, which was planted 3 yrs. ago as a 2' tall sapling.
