I gathered some fruit from a beautyberry shrub and would like to try to grow them. What should I do next?

I looked this up in the book "Growing and Propagating Showy Native Woody Plants" by Richard E Bir. He says "Seeds are easily squeezed from fruit after the first killing frost. While no scarification or stratification is required, my experience has been that fresh seeds don't germinate for about 3 months. A period of warm after-ripening is apparently needed. This can be accomplished by storing cleaned seeds at room temperature and then sowing the following spring."

I hope this helps.
