There is a lot of iron in the well water and the sprinkler system stains the trees rust red. Is there a way to remove the stain without hurting the tree??

Can you pos send a picture as there are lots of different types of rust, if you are sure the rust is from the watering system, then it would be a case of trying to keep the sprinkler OFF the foliage etc, and just water the soil, if however it is tree rust, then you would need to find out what type of rust the trees / shrubs have, there are several types of rust that affects different trees / shrubs so a picture would help.
IF it is your water, I cant see how you can remove this unless you find another water source and that would be so un practical for you, so it my be a case of preventing this Iron water going on the wrong area of foliage and just watering the soil.
Wish I could help more but perhaps someone else in your area can come up with better ideas than I have. good luck, hope you can sort this out soon. WeeNel.

maybe you should invest in a filtering system that will take the iron out if you have well water.
