I love this plant, want to know how to transplant some of it to another spot, etc...

The photo is dark, but a quick guess from what I can see is that it's crocosmia Monbretia. It's worth googling anyway.

I'd agree... crocosmia is what it looks like. It's super easy to transplant. Just dig it up and plop it in a new place, when it's done flowering. If it's still hot and dry out, just make sure it gets enough water. I think it prefers sun, and well-drained soil, and needs water first couple of years. Once it's established I don't think it needs to be watered a bunch. My transplants took a couple of years to flower. The ones doing the best are in full sun and near the drip hose. Other people I know have them in dry areas of the yard though.
